Next of kin. Unless your Uncle Steve's last name is Spielberg, it'd be best to include him as a guest, not as a cameraman. While it can be tempting to ask a family member or friend to bring along a camcorder, record all the action andvoila!instant wedding video, such a path is shortsighted. Just as there's more to taking a great photograph than pressing a button, knowing how to run a video camera doesn't qualify someone to produce a watchable film.
Open auditions. Each videographer will have a unique style, encompassing anything from a documentary-type movie with minimal editing to something approaching a Hollywood mini feature film. Meet face to face with different videographers until you find one with whom you're completely comfortable and whose style fits with your goals. That means starting the search early; many local videographers recommend booking at least eight to 12 months in advance.
The ticket price. It used to be that the wedding video was an afterthought, something to be considered only if there was any money left over. But videotaping has moved up the ladder of importance. Couples today can expect to pay anywhere from about $500 for one camera recording the ceremony up to several thousand dollars for complete coverage and extras.
